My dog is a 3 year old chesapeake bay retriever ......?

Everytime i take my dog out side in the front yard no fence he gets carried away, hes super stubborn and if he gets going on chasing a cat, lizard or any other animal FORGET it! No stopping him Hes 3 yrs old, how can i get hime to listen better, he knows how to stay, sit, lay, you know basic commands but he just cant help himself when he sees another animal.
