Dog breed not on the list for my lease agreement?

I moved into my apartment in Chesapeake.They gave us a list of breeds that ain't aloud.We found a dog that wasn't on the list.The shelter contacted the office and they said that it wasn't aloud.Me and my boyfriend came home and looked at the paper.If it is 25 pounds and 14 inches talk its ok..Anything over that has to be seen by a vet and they need proof of height and weight.And we are willing to do that.But the dog we are looking at is a pure bred Lab.So if it ain't on the lease can we still get it?Please help !
