I used a 12v Tire Inflator on my 2003 Volkswagen GTI, now my car won't start.?

I don't get it. I followed the instructions, I ran the tire inflator plugged in with the car off. The instructions for the tire inflator says to make sure the 12v power outlet is rated at 15 amps. Can these VWs not even handle 15 amps? What's the deal? Why won't my car start after using a tire inflator for 6 minutes?
